I think mineral makeup is just a marketing gimmick. It is just a new way of selling woman the same ingredients that is already a natural composite of makeup products.
The main ingredients are minerals such as zinc oxide, titanium dioxide and mica are the basis of most makeup products all along! Thus i conclude that mineral makeup has no special health benefits.
Mineral makeup usually eliminates classic ‘toxic irritants’ such as fragrances, binders, dyes, preservatives and synthetic dyes. Thus any other types of makeup that eliminates these properties will also eliminate some of the related problems the irritants causes.

Mineral makeup provides natural sun protection? The product contains titanium dioxide and zinc oxide which are ingredients commonly found in your sunscreen lotion. But it does not give you sufficient protection from the sun. It is better to use your regular sunscreen lotion under your makeup.
In our beauty society, there is no set regulation for what would constitute a mineral makeup. Thus any product that contain minerals as its primary ingredient may be marketed as mineral makeup even if it contains other ‘unnatural’ ingredients such as bismuth oxychloride, it is man made and gives your finished look a polished effect.

Some mineral makeup is marketed for its smooth and natural finishes. What happens is that, the mineral has been dramatically reduced in size to a Nano particle. Well, if you had some science lessons back in your high school. You would realise that when molecules experiences certain changes, they can evolve and become something very different and become a toxic property. Minerals like zinc and titanium are safe when applied to your healthy skin but when it has been micronized into Nano particle, it becomes a health hazard. It is bad for damaged skin and when it is inhaled.
